    KM 3050 Authentication

    Hello,

I have a client who changed the settings in Advanced - Authentication to Local and they dont know the username/password that was set with this unit (purchased business and copier came with). They cant get into Command Center or the copier now at all. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Bob.

The only way to reset a changed password on the nic is to do sim 20 reset (I think it's sim 20, might be 22) and then reload all the machine settings. This is a very involved process, call a tech!

PS. There is no need to change the password on a printer nic, when will IT professionals get this through their heads.

How many times have you heard this?: I don't know what my password is. What do I do.

      First, don't change the default.
Second, if you do change it, write it down somewhere, and tell the copier tech. He'll need to know.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Wow, a few anger issues there to be resolved. Anyway, you should probably read the initial post before you go off on your little 'wah the IT pros' tangent. Customer purchased it, password was already set... and actually the fix was alot easier than the 'involved process' that was recommended. But thanks for your rant - much appreciated.
