km 5050 select input cassette question

I have a km 5050 in the field... I need it to pull paper from the bypass when making copies... it does not do this consistently... anyone has any ideas...???

I also would like to set this copier up pull yellow sheets for fax confirmation and white sheets for everything else... anyone has any ideas???

I would use Media Type settings to address these issues. Leave the bypass set to Plain (or normal, whatever the default is) and set all other trays to other media types such as Bond, Letterhead, Color, etc. Also set auto switching to OFF on all paper sources. Set the yellow paper tray to Colored paper and then set the Fax default to Colored paper.
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

Like Jules says. That will work best for you. This machine is unique in that unless you specify a specific media type for fax, it will print onto any and every paper size. There is a nifty little chart in the manual specifying what order the paper sizes will be selected as they run out.

If you do not select a specific media type it will not ask for fax paper until there is not one single sheet of paper in the machine.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        media types

by changing defualt tray to 3 for print and copies and keeping media type plain we redirected those jobs

then by changing the media type of tray 1 to color and changing the media type of fax to color we were able to print all faxes recieved as yellow...

our only issue now is to get this machine to print the fax confirmation as yellow...

Fax reports are technically 'prints' and will go to the printers default tray. I thing you're as close as you're going to get. =^..^=
