I have two 2550's that are light down the center lead to trail from both adf and glass. Internal prints and faxing are ok only happens when copying or smb scanning. I cleaned the optics thoroughly with no positive results. What is driving me nuts, is again the fact, that when sending a fax the receiving end gets a perfect image.

1st, I would doubt that the scanned faxes are perfect, however these machines are notorious for fuser cooking the fuser temps need to be lowered, all of them. Clean the optics with a solvent. Windex or water will not fix this, it is mostly the first mirror under the flourescent lamp. Some of these have this problem some don't there is no rhyme or reason, two machines with the same settings can have completely different results. Good luck -
There is a build up of ozone or something that builds on those mirrors and you have to use windex or something to clean it off. Unlike the old analog machines the dirtier the optics get the lighter the copies get. its that whole works just opposite of the old machines.Southern Duplicating of Mississippi

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." [Samuel Adams]Comment
