    TASKalfa-Groaning noise during initialization

This CS-500ci is in our office. For the last two weeks I've had various people tell me that the machine makes noises, and I've heard the noises for the first time today.

It makes a brief groaning noise (4) times at the beginning of initialization, and occasionally the same (4) repetitions when awakening from sleep mode. After the (4) little groans it doesn't repeat again for long periods of time.

After quite a lot of head scratching, I could reproduce the sound by running the Laser Scan Cleaning function in System Menu > Adjustment/Maintenance (except it's (6) little groans when run from the system menu).

When the (4) laser slit glasses are cleaned by the rubber blades, the mechanism is driven by couple of cams. To get a look at the mechanism just remove the drum and developing units. The cams are at the LSU unit top left, visible through the black drum opening. A little dab of white grease will quiet it down quite nicely.

Maybe this will save someone a few recalls. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I also have machines doing this and show the customer that when I do the laser scan cleaning it is normal and they normally are fine with that.
