Hello Everyone, I was considering using generic toner in my 3035,4035,5035 machines from Ka*un. Has anyone had problems? Thanks.. Ant

We use Ka*un Toner for all our Toshibas and Mitas. No issues.

I would not recommend you to use generic toner. Yes, it is cheaper but don't forget about melting point of the toner, resins/chemicals mixture quantities etc. It's like using peanut butter instead of engine oil in your vehicles engine - NEVER know if it is going to be ok for another click. At the end if you have a contract with Ricoh most of the time it covers free toner and maintenance. Aficio MP3035 uses Type 3110D which is not that expensive - you can buy it on eBay for approx. $25-$30 per bottle + shipping. If you need this toner let me know I have some stock of genuine toner not generic "powder".

Maybe you didn't read the post right. Anthony is talking about MITA not Ricoh. Ka*un toner works fine in MITA products. I wouldn't recommend switching between OEM and Ka*un. Use one and stick with it. It will save you money. I wouldn't recommend using any other kind of generic. We have and most will cause problems.

This has been discussed here several times. It varies by usage. Some will recommend generic and some will advise you to stay away. If you want to test them out, keep some spare Developer units just in case.

The three problems to watch for are:

1) build up on fuser rollers
2) build up on mag roller
3) light image quality

If you see any of these switch back to OEM. I have had too many bad experiences with generic to recommend any specific brand but OEM. =^..^=

aftermarket toner will work fine in that machine for about 150-200k then you will need to replace your developing unit because your mag roller will be coated with crap. But you will do two calls trying to figure out what the problem is and then need to replace the developing unit on the third call so technically any money you saved on your toner you just lost on parts and labor.

My crappy theory is that aftermarket toner is not a good fit for Mono-Component or Color applications.

Thanks for the feedback, I've been in the business for a long time and have had good and bad results from generic toner. When I have to give my contract customers toner I start wanting to cut cost, then I remeber how much it cost in time and trouble to fix a machine with toner problems. Just tryinig to squeeze more money out of my clicks. I'm over it now, Thanks....Ant

Nothing wrong with that, you just have to squeeze carefully.

Generic toner has more wax in it than OEM. This ends up as little white marks all over the drum and of course, poor copy quality. You will more than likely be replacing drum and developing units before their time if you use this stuff.
