I have a KM1650 that displays "please wait" on occasion and you have to power off the system and back on again then it will be ok for a couple of days then do it again.
so far we have changed the fuser, main board, engine board, network card and done the firmware.

Is this when printing? Sometimes a file problem can lock up the machine like this. If this is the case, update drivers and try changing the printer emulation. This usually helps.

I've also reinitialized the memory on machines in this series to fix this particular problem...
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.
