    Copystar DF-710, J87 jams

... only exiting to tray A, only letter sized paper.

This is caused by the lower gate in the stapling tray. A small plastic post is snapped off, most likely with the assistance of an enduser. The post is actuated by a solenoid to open the gate when 8 1/2" long paper is fed into the stapling tray. I didn't think of snapping a "before" picture of the broken piece, but here is the fix. Maybe this should be called a MacGuyver, but it's most surely stronger than the original. The hole is drilled through the post, then a length of coat hanger fed through and epoxied in place:

I found the post under the rear finisher wheel. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
