We would like to hold print jobs sent to the copystar 6030 copier in our school until the sender is physically at the copier and enters their management code into the machine. As it is now, if one person is making copies, and another sends a print job, it will come out in the middle of the copies or sometimes on another tray. People constantly forget to pick up printed materials, we would like them to enter their code to pick up any sent print jobs to reduce waste. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to enable "Private Print" and you will need to install the optional hard drive in order to have the "Private Print" option. But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

Technically, the print jobs do not interrupt the copy jobs, but occur in between completed copy jobs (even if its just one page). If you have the DF-650 finisher you can select different default destination trays for copy jobs and print jobs.
You can also use Private Print, or Virtual Mailboxes. In the earliest incarnations of the print drivers there were some problems with Private Print. Specifically, when a job arrived with the exact same filename, the copier would overwrite the first job with the same name. Later on (version 5.0 and later of the print driver) the print driver attaches a date/time stamp to the filename to make each print job name unique, thus no more overwriting.
Here are the main differences:
Private Print holds the print jobs as separate files, until you approach the machine. In the driver, when you send the print job, you select a one-time use numerical password. This password is used to release the print job then it is automatically erased. Each print job must be released individually with it's own numerical password. You may re-use the same password several times if you like, they do not have to be unique. Private Print does not require any special setup on the machine.
Virtual Mailboxes hold print jobs in a single file, until you approach the machine. In the driver, when you send the print job, you select the specific box. In the machine setup, the password is pre-programmed. When you approach the machine, you select the appropriate virtual mailbox, enter your password, and all the documents stored are released and erased.
Do any of these sound like possible solutions? =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thank you so much for the quick replies!
Blackcat4866 - Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I will need to see if we are set up for Private Print when I get back to work on Monday. I do believe that is exactly what I need, though. We are each set up with a passcode we need to enter before copying, I'm hoping each person will be able to use that same passcode each time they would like to release the private print job sent.
It sounds like the Virtual Mailbox option might also work, as it sounds like a user could release all jobs they have sent with one entry of their code. Sometimes folks are less than attentive when printing, though, and I'm wondering if they will forget the additional step of choosing a mailbox.
Jules-thank you as well for the quick help. I will get the specs for our machine and see if we have the optional HD, or see what the cost is to get that installed.
Thank you both so much for your time, I will post my findings and let you know if these excellent ideas will work for us.

That sounds like a good option as well, it is nice to know that if we do not have the HD there are still ways to make this work. Creating user boxes does not sound too difficult or time consuming. Thanks for the additional info!Comment

Oh Joy!
We do have the option for Private Print, but not Virtual Mailbox (that option is greyed out). I have been wondering why the manuals I have didn't really cover how to work these very well, and just found out that what I really needed was the Print Driver manual - which I just found online. Yippee!! Again, thank you all so much for your help - now I'm going to read the driver manual and get this working the way we would like!Comment
