I,ve been wrestling with a j80 from sleep mode for some time now..Updating the firmware will only fix j80 when copier is running and customer removes paper from bin before job finishes. The current version is 2.45a On the status page it will show a release date of 7/23/10..
Have a tech support ticket going with Kyocera and will advise when solved..

Use compact flash. It re-loads firmware even when it's the same version, unlike USB which skips same levels of firmware. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

hmm yeh, i went for the flash card, but the machine does not seem to have the slot, unless its behind the rear cover.

i have a main board on route to try, but the mention with the on going Jam 80 issue after the update is a worry

Both my machines have CF slots. Perhaps early production?

According to the service manual there is a CFPWB attached to the IFPWB. I'm assuming that would be either near the network connector or tucked inside the back. =^..^=

yeh there is nothing external beside the network port, but i threw on a couple of new pcb boards that have the latest firmware on, and i'm still getting jam 80 codes, however not coming out from sleep mode now, just random

not sure here but i'm still convinced the copier is not talking to the finisher in the same language, i'm trying another finisher next week

Visited my Jam 80 from sleep mode copier today and reflashed firmware using compact flash ( slot is just above ethernet jack). This had no effect. I also noticed if the copier is turned completely off, Jam 80 occurs on first copy. The screen says copying for a few seconds but eventually goes into J80

tech07 that is bad news, sounds like a change in finisher type will only solve the problem, i myself have been asked to try a new finisher, which is due in this week, but i can guess it wont work, we may have to upgrade the finisher.
