    more on u131

been doing more digging, since I'm no factory tech, and factory tech in my region pretty much dont care.

I understand the concept, basically its a control system with a process and setpoint.

say the machine sets value at 138, then it make sure the process(toner output value)is close to 138 while compensating all other elements.

What I dont understand is there are machine that I'm seeing that has (180,179) value.

I'm taking a wild guess that the toner coverage is proportional to u131 value. If it is so, can one intentionally undertone to save toner?

Yes. It's called "EcoPrint". If you want light copies, this is the way to go. I wouldn't go screwing with developer density unless you want to buy more developing units in the near future. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

there's one machine that's undertoning by 30 points on K and C, any remedy before replacing DLPs?

      ratio: K 6%, C 6 %, M 11%, Y 11%.

symptom: intermittent background, meter: less than 50k

You can try a Developer Refresh in the System Menu > Adjustment/Maintenance.

If you are seeing background, I suspect this won't help though.
Is this a TASKalfa CS-250ci/300ci/400ci/500ci? Firmware version 11.00 is supposed to address this issue (with the developer unit changed at the same time). =^..^=

Me thinks grounding issue, they had multiple cf codes the first 10k

You might do a HDD re-format, then re-load v. 11.00. That has been known to solve some of those cfxxx code problems. First do a U917 backup, and be prepared to re-enter your scan to email/SMB/FTP information.
