    Kyocera KM-5035 scaning help

    HI all

    I have a client with a KM-5035 with a problem when scanninng to email. . .

They cant scan much more than say 10 pages without getting the following msg:

'Email could not be sent because of too much data size'. . .

The copier has a 60gb HD in so cant see why this is happening.

    Any help is much appreciated.

Browse to the scan card and change the default Data Size setting from LOW to NON-Restrictive under Email Basic Settings

Also maint mode 906 to re-enable the HDD then mode 989 for HDD scan disk

Open a web browser on the network where the mfp is located and type in the IP address of the scan card. If you dont have the IP address print out the config page from the copier

You can also go from the panel in scanner settings and get the ip from there. If you already have the scan card set for low or non-restrictive then it is the email server itself kicking back the scan due to size of file.

make sure their email server can handle that big of a file as well.

What scan defaults are set? No color scanning on this one, so that's a big KB user ruled out. 600 dpi can be reduced to 300 or 200 dpi for most text originals. And Text original type creates smaller files than Photo or Text/Photo.

              A single typical B&W, 300dpi, Text original scans at ~10KB (9.7KB)
A single typical color, 300dpi, Text original scans at ~100KB (97KB)

Most email servers will accept 20MB attachments. A particularly memorable exception allowed an 37MB attachment. Our IT support told me some rubbish about server best practices indicate 5MB or less. I have only come across such limitations when scanning to off-site SMTP servers. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
