    [Jamming] KM-6030

    Hi
I have km 6030 (less than 200k copies) and from the very beginning there are problems with feed from trays 1 and 2 (large capacity).. Paper travels about 3-5 cm and then jams, wo visible reason (1 time per 100-150 copies)
I've already tried to adjust pressure of separation roller and cassette centre position but this gives no effect at all.. Any ideas?
    Thanx already!

I have seen problems feeding from tray 1 or 2 show up as duplex jams. Not sure if this will help you on this problem, but it could. Try cleaning the one way bearing in the feed roller and the one way gear on the feed roller shaft. Also clean the shaft with a scotchbrite pad. Remove the shiny area where the one way bearings ride on the shaft. This will dull the shaft in this area allowing the one way bearings to grip the shaft. I also put a drop of oil on the bearings. This solved intermittent jamming problems on these machines for me, hope this will help your problem.

Why do you call it jamming if there is no jam code? All jams produce some jam code. System errors stop the machine, but are not jams.

If you are getting jamming from tray #1 or #2 you should be seeing J10 or J11. There is a modification to the separation of all four trays. The new style front separation spring is copper colored (2FB09251) and one additional increment of separation for trays #1, #3, & #4. Tray #2 gets two additional increments of separation. The rear separation spring remains silver and unchanged separation setting. The purpose of this modification is to even out the wear of the separation rollers.

Another possible cause for J10 & J11 jams is a damaged paper empty sensor. I don't know what customer behavior causes it, but only certain customers break paper empty sensor, repeatedly.

There has been a recent post by a member that claims that certain Ricoh rollers last better, solving some jamming problems. Since the modifications I have had no difficulties with paper tray rollers making it to the 500K kit, and they are all replaced with the kit.

J34 jams are registration area jams, that are usually caused by paper skewing from a paper source, see above.

Any other jams codes or error codes? =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I agree with blackcat.. Also, take out the feed tire unit and check the small mylar guides that rest right at the feed roller. These ocassionally bend or nick and will keep paper from feedindg properly

this new fix comes with all new maintenance kits for 6030-8030/620-820 btw. and it works. almost went to 500k, greatly improved over the old stuff who could fail as low av 100k. took them 5 years, even tough we complained about this from the very initial release of 8030.
