    faxes stuck

working on a fs-3140. Unit prints and copies with no issues. Problem is with fax. Faxes come thru at certain times and sometimes the faxes stay stuck in memory and will not print out. The memory button flashes and stays flashing. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is batch print turned on? (It's good, but that's why it will wait til the end to print out the whole fax)
Does Status say anything useful about the fax job, like how many pages long it is?

went to account, batch print is off, it only seems to happen with certain numbers. Going back in the morning and having the numbers that have errors try faxing over to recreate the issue at hand. Printed rx report and every fax that has an error is 1 or 2 pages. No more than that.

What average transmission times? If it's exceeding 30 sec per page I'd concentrate on the phone line. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I most always start with a different fax when troubleshooting issues like this. Just bring a loaner for a day or 2 and see if the problem stays with the line or if it is unique to the MFP.

just left the customer, one customer tried to fax and it did not go through. I had my office fax over and they went through twice. Customer just called me and i was told that other people trying to fax over to unit are getting a busy signal. Any suggestions.

just a shot in the dark here, but I have had lots of faxing issues with people what have digital phone lines. faxing and the new VOIP systems does not like each other at all. I would ask them if they have regular lines or not. My issue was on a little KM 4690 all in one that just kept saying communication error 01. No errors in the the fax logs at all. Made me wonder what it could be. did some research and sure enough VOIP and faxing will not work together with out error. Just my thought good luck.

loaner is a good idea, DO THAT!

The very basic thing you could do before getting telco guys (depending how much time you have) is to get a very basic phone, plug the phone line in. Does it ring when you called the number? Does it dial out and connect?

when i call the number i get through, after 3 rings it picks up. I had my office yesterday fax over six documents twice. Went through with no problem.

There are two things I usually turn off if I'm having a lot of trouble sending or receiving faxes. One is to turn off ECM, as you've done, and the other is to turn off V.34 (U633 I believe). If those two don't work, there is almost certainly a line problem.
