    CS-2050 FAXING

i have a cutomer who is faxing from their machine into the computer as a backwards way of scanning, i am trying to upgrade him to a 255 with scan to rectify this issue, but int he meantime he will be taking this machine home to use, so it needs to be fixed. the problem is if i open up the microsoft fax utility monitor it crashes after 2, 6, 16 pages etc. i can send a 40 page fax to my office thereby bypassing the pc and narrowing the problem doen to the pc side, he said he has been using this method 50 pages at a clip for years with no issue. i reseatted the memory just for fun.

So ... it's not the fax system that's the problem. You want to fix the Microsoft fax utility? How about removing/re-installing it? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

whats the clients system? XP, vista, 7?
As thumb rule tho, its in the control panel... Add/Remove programs... Add/Remove windows components... and un-tick the Fax Components module.
Do a reboot... go back and tick it again (you will most likelly be required to put the windows disk)

PS: If the client has a vista/7 customed Restore disk (not an OEM install disk) you MAY have problems reinstalling it afterwards (windows might reject the recovery disk as its not an OEM install disk)... play it safe and before you change anything, create a Restore Point so that if it goes wrong you can safely revert any changes.
