    [Misc] FS-4020 Paper tray set up issue.

    Hi everyone.

    After a bit of assistance if anyone can help, I have a customer who has a FS-4020 printer (actually the UTAX version LP3245) who has 2 cassettes, letterhead in tray 1 and plain a4 in tray 2, whats happening is when the a4 plain runs out, it goes to tray 1 using thier letterhead stock, I have changed it from auto to fixed, but I think that might fix tray 1 and not 2. Is there a setting on the printer to sort this, or should I be looking down the print driver route, would it change things if I set the default paper tray to tray 2 on the printer?

    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers.

    I think my preference would be to make these changes as your printer defaults, by sending the following PreScribe command:
    !R! FRPO R1,0; FRPO R4,2; FRPO X1,9; FRPO X2,1; FRPO X9,0;EXIT;

    That breaks down as:
    FRPO R1,0; auto tray switching disabled
    FRPO R4,2; printer default tray2
    FRPO X1,9; tray1 media type letterhead
    FRPO X2,1; tray2 media type plain
    FRPO X9,0; tray selection based on media type

    You can make some of the changes in you driver defaults:
    Source: Tray2
    Media Type: Plain
    but you would still have to send a PreScribe command to disable auto tray switching, and to default tray selection based on media type:
    !R! FRPO R1,0; FRPO X9,0;EXIT;

    If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Do you have the ' SIZE ' selector set the same on both cassette's ?
      If so, you may need to change the Letterhead cassette to " OTHER " setting .

        Re: FS-4020 Paper tray set up issue.

        Did you ever get a working solution for this, from what I can tell the FRPO R1 has been removed from most of the newer Kyocera models (falcon 3+ for copiers, and apparently sometime before the FS-4020)

        I'm dealing with this same issue with a customer where we cannot define different paper types due to a software limitation.
