    [CQ] KM4530 toner leak

I have a Kyocera-Mita 4530 with 500000 copies on the counter. The current symptom is that as the machine warms up the copies show parallel lines like black crayon from left to right across the pages. These seem to get darker as more copies are printed. I have replaced the developer and the developer unit (a used one) and there seems to be a problem of toner leakage under the developer unit which has not changed with the new developer unit. I don't know if the leaking is creating the bad copies. I am happy to supply more details. Thanks.

Venom is right about the MC unit causing your black streaks. Though you may just need to replace the corona and the grid, and clean it up well. The excess toner coming from the developing unit is probably due to bad settings. I have seen many techs try to get good copies up to that 500000 mark by tweaking the DV bias and the toner sensor. De-tone the DV unit by running some black pages, set the following settings to default. Here are the common settings I see techs mess with, and their defaults:
      U100 DSP Data: 168
      U101 DV Bias - DB Data: 207
      DB Data 2: 52
      U131 Toner Sensor: 154

Once you've finished with those settings, see how your copies look. If your quality isn't quite right, I have found in some cases that bumping DV Bias up to 220, and setting the toner sensor value a little lower produces a nice black, with far less spillage from the DV. You may need to bump the MC output a bit to compensate for the higher DV bias, as well. Hope that helps

Also, check the cleaning unit, as it may be dropping toner. There are several seals in there that need to be replaced at 500k.

Looks like its the Drum Blade not cleaning the excess toner, try changing it. Check the Cleaning Unit's Bunny Roller (Cleaning Roller) Give it a good vacum, some times clogs and it starts backing up into the cleaning area and it will eventually spill back
