    TA 420i Welcome Screen

I am working on a TA 420i that will only come up to the welcome screen I have replace the panel boards the main board. The code dimm main memory and hard drives machine will not firmware update either. I have tried both usb and compact flash have followed the troubleshooting bulletin no help. Any ideas would be very helpful Thank in advance.

    Re: TA 420i Welcome Screen

Just to clarify: You replaced the "panel boards" (circuit boards in the operation panel?), and main board.
Did you also replace the CODE DIMM, Image Memory, and HDD? Then attempted firmware upgrade via USB & CF?

Since I'm not sure what you did, this is the order I would think most likely:
    1) Firmware via CF
    2) CODE DIMM, & firmware via CF
    3) Operation Panel, & firmware via CF
    4) Engine PWB, & firmware via CF
    5) Main PWB, & firmware via CF

The image memory and HDD would probably not interfere with the operation of the firmware. Does that help? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

That is the order that i did everything except the engine board tech support states that because the machines comes up and the fuser turns on that the engine is not the problem. their last suggestion was the hard drives replaced those today and tried updating via compact flash welcome screen comes up and never leaves

I have had 2 similar cases on 500ci's that turned out to be the memory sticks.

how long did you wait for the firmware to load, suppose to take at least 20mins to see movement. If your USB has led on it, as long as it flashing its still good.

              Unless its really bad.

Before Kyo split the combined and accessories, it could take 45 minutes to complete firmware. Version 11.0 combined takes about 25 minutes.
I would still wait the 45 minutes, just because if the firmware doesn't take you're screwed. Can I spare 20 minutes? If it will revive the machine, you bet. =^..^=
