I got a new, CS-5550ci (Less than 60K copies) that I installed a PF-740 about 1 Month ago, customer called in because the MFP cannot detect the PF-740 trays (2 x 1500 sheet), The Event Report shows 2 - C1800 Error codes (PF communication code) I've 906 the device, re-seated both connectors, I'm thinking either the PF Main Board or the MFP's Engine board, possibly Wire Harness (but no apparent physical damage) any ideas?

If you've got the time and an assistant, I'd follow the golden rule of part cost.
The cheapest thing to do is reload firmware (especially options).
The next cheapest is to meter out the harness from the PF to the bottom plate, then the bottom plate to the engine PWB. You can test both simultaneously by metering directly from the PF main to the engine PWB. It helps to have an assistant to hold meter leads at one of the ends. It's a three handed job by yourself.
The next cheapest is the PF main PWB.
The next cheapest (or conversely, most expensive) is the engine PWB.
Let us know how it turns out. (My money is on the engine PWB.) =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

I am also dealing with error code C1800 on a TASKalfa 406. I have replaced the PF MAIN PWB, the PF-5120, and the Engine PWB. Also upgraded Firmware. Any other suggestions at this point? Thanks!Comment

Yeah, sorry I forgot to mention that, but no such luck. Our regional Kyocera rep is recommending we order two front cover switches. I'll let you know if that works, as far as I know there is no tech bulletin at this time.Comment
