    MITa KM-C2525E control panel issues

    hi,
im an independent tech who hasnt worked on a mita since the mita 900d.
i picked up a KM-C2525E which after sitting in my garage for 2 weeks,
lost the soft touch screen from responding.Picked up a used one from the
used copier wholesaler and that worked for 3 days and same story.
    Is mita doing any replacement/exchange?
i heard/read there was issues with their touch panels.
can i calibrate it if doesnt respond to touch?
if not any fixxes short term?
took it out and let it sit on my dashboard in the heat and still no go.
do the new ones work out?
i could use the new part number if anyone can help me out.
    thanks in advance

Re: MITa KM-C2525E control panel issues

It's called the "tablet" that goes bad. Essentially in high heat and humidity conditions the conductive adhesive loosens up, making a poor connection. There have been updates, but I haven't seen vast improvements.

There have been techs that will swear that they can re-adhere the contacts to the touch screen with a curling iron. I haven't tried it myself, but it's plausible that it could work.

If you like I can look up the part numbers for the tablet, foam gaskets, and the clear plastic sheet that covers it. That last item is not absolutely necessary, but produces an aesthetically pleasing result. I've rebuilt quite a number of these panels. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      thnx for the reply.
i gotta put this copier in place of of a ricoh color that
      wont stop adding yellow toner.
if you could get me the parts numbers i would really appreciate it as this
unit was suppose to be swapped out a month ago.

Try running a businesd card all around the edge of the display under the plastic alot of times dust or debri will push down on the tablet, if its pushed at any point it wont respond

This is a brilliant idea, and makes a lot of sense...usually when I clean displays I just tend to wipe them of and using a soft tooth brush doing the corners and sides card looks like a must have tool

          Thanks A/ztech.
.OK Google! ... will I need Berrocca this morning?

i pulled the tablet out and removed the metal frame from around it.
trying to figure what part they would use "heat" on to reattach.
            is it the small connector?
i see the connector for the "lcd lamp"
and assume that is not an issue as the screen works perfect.
i will make sure no dust or debri and put it back and test it.
            thnx

Its the flat ribbon connecter on the touch panel itself.Just for clarification the touch panel has the foam pads on the edges.

I have seen the grit problem on other models, but on the Voyagers it's been the tablet:

                fig 27-27 quantity (1) 302FZ05060 Sheet
                fig 27-19 quantity (1) 302FB25190 Tablet
                fig 27-7 quantity (2) 2BJ25280 Foam Seals
                fig 27-6 quantity (2) 2BJ25270 Foam Seals
