[Error Code] CS-2560 Scan to email issues

    Hi,

We've had our CS-2560 up and running perfectly for over 2 years. this morning it suddenly can no longer Scan to email via SMTP (has worked flawlessly for the last 2 years). Nothing has changed anywhere, but gives error code 2202. I've tried changing the cable as well as the network port to no avail. when testing the connection it occasionally says OK, then when I go to scan, same error. Back to the Command Center and again error when testing.

    Any ideas?

Printing still works fine, I have never set up a scan to folder, never got it to work.

Possible network card dying? I'm really out of ideas right now. Small office environment with Cisco switches in the back handling everything.

    Thanks!

Do you have another SMTP server you can test it with? When I have any doubts, I set up a machine with my office email settings. If there is still a problem, it is the machine or the network. If it goes fine, then there may be some issue you need to address with the email service the customer is using.

If you have all of the customer's email settings, you could also try using them on a machine at your office. If the machine will send fine through your work's email server, and a machine in your office sends fine through the customer's email server, then you know there are some network issues in their office.

Do an ipconfig/all on one of their workstations, as well. You never know if something like DNS has changed recently. That's not normally something a customer would be aware of. If you are having trouble getting into the command center, I would lean toward local network issues, though.

If you are unable to set it up for SMB scanning, and they are having no trouble printing, it may be difficult to verify that, however.

      Unfortunately, no.

This is only used for intra-office mail. I am the I guy here and nothing has changed on the DNS/DHCP side. This is only being used to send to our employees MS Exchange emails. Like I said, it was working for over 2 years until around 10am this morning.

Our DHCP does not allow anyone to take the range of IP that we set our printers to, but just to make sure I unplugged the device and sure enough it can't be pinged, plugged in it can.

Can get into the command center just fine. When testing the SMTP connection via the command center I get the same error I do when trying to send. Occasionally the command center test passes, even had it pass 7 times in a row. Went to scan and send and fail again.

It's an odd error, was hoping not to have to pay for a repair man

A simple and effective thing to try is to just re-type the scan data in the Command Center, and Submit, including the addressbook.

For me it's usually an addressbook entry, but I've seen port # also become corrupt. The data looks right but just doesn't work. You might also try lengthening out the SMTP server connection time. Typically it's 90 seconds, but you can try higher values.

Re-enter > Submit. Let us know if it works. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

That's a good idea with the smtp timeout blackcat. 2202 is a timeout error, so it is not necessarily failing to connect to the smtp, it is just taking too long to authenticate, or send the email. That might or might not be a permanent fix for you, but it could help get you by, at the very least.
