It started as a typical bad Black DV unit with no black printing. Vacuumed out the small amount of DV that leaked out the back side of the K DV unit. Installed new K DV unit. Performed color calibration through system menu. When machine comes to ready it says to do auto gray adjust. I print the pattern #1 for auto gray adjust. There are no three black squares, only dark blue. Therefore the machine won't read the pattern. Now what? The problem is the front side of prints and copies are light only in black. Colors are still fine. What could it be? Bad new K DV Unit? I've run at least 50 copies and it's pretty consistently light on the front side. The back half of the prints are jet black. I'm lost .

Remove the developer unit and check the contact in the developer unit and inside of the machine the developer unit has a shaft that move the magnet roller to the drum some time it come out of position so doesn't touch the drum even.Comment

Make sure the mag roller cams toward the drum on front and rear when installed. Easy to check with unit out. Press in the shaft on rear of dv unit and watch the mag roller. Sometimes the shaft comes out of the clip and lever w/spring gets on the wrong side of shaft. My mission here on Earth is to help all you Dum-Dums!Comment

So it sounds like it must be the new unit. I'll go back tomorrow and check it. I'd hate to have to return this $250.00 part and get another one. They ain't gonna like that. Thanks for your insight guys.Comment

Who knows? Maybe the little shaft will just snap back into place? I've seen it before too.
You can also try covering up the openings, and shake the dickens out of it. I've had some that all the developer stayed at the front (usually the front). Doing 12 developer stirs does not help. Just shaking til your arms are sore and the customer starts giving you funny looks. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
