    CS 300ci Fax Driver

I have a customer that uses desktop faxing on some of their workstations. They recently moved some computers around, and I had to install the fax driver on one of the computers that did not previously have it. It is an XP workstation. The print driver works fine, but when I try to test the fax driver, I get an error that the "wrong device" is connected. (sorry, I didn't write down the exact error) When installing the fax driver, I selected the CS 300ci driver, and I verified that I have the correct IP address. Has anyone had this problem before? Thanks!

*edit* I have already tried to remove and re-install the driver, and encountered the same error.

You can try installing a KPrint port. Kprint setup is found in the Installation directory for the driver. Install and configere a network fax port. Set the Fax driver to use that port.

      Re: CS 300ci Fax Driver

I had this happen once on a new installation. It was my own stupidity though.

The regular fax functioned normally, but the network fax could not find the MFP. In the end, the fax was at an incompatible level of firmware with the rest of the machine. It's always good practice when an accessory is added or a board changed to re-flash the firmware. And I had not flashed this one.

If it was functioning before, ... well I'd still try re-flashing the machine. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I can give FW a try, but I've been going around to all of my taskalfa customers to upgrade to V12. So I know the FW has been updated very recently. I can give it a try though. I will also try Kprint, and let you guys know what I find. Thanks for all the help!

            Re: CS 300ci Fax Driver

The fax drivers are still refusing to connect to this device. I have updated the main firmware, option firmware, U252 is set to the correct destination, fax drivers are the most current. I have tried it with DHCP on and off. I have tried cycling SNMP on and off, with resets in between. Still tells me that the connected device does not match.

I tried setting up a kprint port, but then I got a new message. Something like "there is no port monitoring installed on this driver". (if I recall correctly) Then I was setting up a new computer at this location, and the 300ci does not show up in the printer discovery list. All of their FS-4000D's do, but not the copier. I can access the command center fine, it prints and scans fine (to SMB and email). It also faxes fine, just not from the fax driver.

I don't know if anyone has any new and exciting ideas on this, but I thought I would give an update. I've called tech support, and after about 40 minutes got the dreaded Case ID#. I haven't spoken with my tech rep yet, but this is where I'm at. Luckily, this is a pretty laid-back customer, and desktop faxing isn't mission critical for them!

I suppose you're desperate enough by now to try this. But remember to print the maintenance report. You'll lose your destination (U265), addressbook, scan settings, & calibration. When I did this on a VoyagerE it took me 2 1/2 hrs to get back to where I started.

For me it was an exercise in futility, but who knows? It might help you. =^..^=

Thanks Marc. I almost did this while I was there, but I was afraid of falling into Blackcat's situation, and end up spending hours getting it operational again, with the same end result. Maybe I'll have to bite the bullet on this.

Our tech rep told us to never use 20 unless you're despirate or they are present. However just using 21 and 24 has saved my butt more than once. Just use 917 to back up the data first.

I know on older models you had to put the ip of the machine somewhere in the fax driver properties. I'm drawing a blank here on where but you might check through there.
