    Utax CD1250 - Kyocera Mita 5050 MAC 10.6 upgraded from 10.5 issue with printing

    have a client who can't print with mac 10.6.8 installed through IP address and it does not find it through library automatically ..had to select printer software and pick it up from there ,,still no joy.. installed 3000 finisher option added it ..still no joy.
    Other macs 10.5 and even 10.6 are OK also all windows machines are OK ...so the question is WHAT to EDIT change ..

    I am not Mac skilled, just to the extent of messing with simple stuff.

    client had to go so could not do it at that time..as you can see on that string there is a kyofilter

    would that be OK to change that kyo to utax? will it amend the type of drivers I want.. programmers ? help :~

    sudo chown root:wheel /usr/libexec/cups/filter/kyofilter
    .any help would be appreciated.

      In what way is the printer not functional on that Mac? If it tells you that it is unable to connect to the printer during spooling, or if it pauses printing, and refuses to send the job, you might try setting it up as a different kind of connection. When you install a new printer on a mac, you can select Default, IP, etc. If you are setting it up as and IP printer, you have a few different choices as to what type of IP printer it is. The two that work best for me are LPD and HP socket. Some computers will work fine with one, but not the other. Which type of IP port it wishes to work on (I believe) depends on the particular mac, and what sort of mood it's in. Mac computers confound me, as well, so you're not alone.

          I would only add to your confusion. I attribute all my MAC successes to luck. =^..^=
          If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

              When print job is sent it just sitd there and is retrying in 15 seconds intervals..

              At the moment client is printing through shared printer on different mac lol

              I can't find any printer under default.. and in this particular case I was not able to do it on any of the macs that were running on this particular wireless router.

              so the only way is to install through line printer daemon on IP > selected printer software, picked the UTAX CD1250 (KM5050) and that was it. On other macs it picked up the driver automatically as soon as I have selected CD1250> started retrieving the driver and voila done .On this particular it just stood there when I selected the CD1250 from the list. Nothing happened after that....which points that something has not automated. But I got no clue what.

              as I mentioned above I am not skilled with macs. If I would have had one, I think I would be working on it until I got it done.

              I don't know where to find ports on mac etc.... it is easy for the ones who know where to look for it.

              I don't even know how to ping from that silly white box.
