Kyocera TASKalfa 400ci KX - Job Accounting issue.

    Hello,

I currently have a client that enables "Job Accounting" & "Prompt for account ID" within the administration options. Every 3 weeks or so, this printer reverts this setting so nothing is enabled within that Job Accounting tab. No one can then print, and they call us to log in and enable this setting. We've tried changing the driver to the latest with no change.

Does anyone know of a bug, or why this might be happening. I can get more info if needed.

    Thanks

    Tom

You might be better off trying to find an older version of the print driver. Here's my theory:

The latest versions of the driver periodically check the machine configuration automatically. If the machine is not on-line at that time the driver reverts to default, basic settings. I am not aware of a way to disable the auto configuration function.

I think I've still got the original version 5.0 print driver if you'd like to try it. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

BlackCat, I'd be willing to try to the 5.0 driver. At this point we've tried everything else..

Tlf, The machines are Windows xp, but the DC that the printer object is hosted on is a Server 2008 SP1 box.

Correction, the client machines are a mix of Win7 and XP. If that helps.

          Thanks!

I have noticed in windows 7 systems they go out and retrive updated drivers on there own and the customer loades the updated driver when they press okay to load updates Then the first time they print it updates there driver. This has happened on a km 6030 also ta 400 also oki printers also. these updated drivers are in the non essential updates.I am working with a large location in a county location this is happening . we had to remove the driver on the server and reinstall it . What was happening is they lost job accounting and finishing but they were able to lock in a id number on there local machines on there driver that the server did not allow before. They were printing local and not threw the server. this started about 4 weeks ago for us. we are still working on this.

Anyone who have the "Managed this Printer" right under security, will able to change the printer settings.
If it is a server client connection, users should not able to do the settings. Do find out from the administrators.
If the person is under administrators group with "Managed this Printer" right, he login his notebook/PC & disable his job accounting function will change the server printer settings & apply to all users.

              Hope it help.
