[Misc] KM-C#3232 - Open tray and remove paper message -

    Please Help
KM-C3232 has message to open tray 1 and remove paper - I have swapped the feed assemblies.
At this point I noticed the lifter motor on tray 1 continues to rotate even when the switch is not actuated.
I replaced the switch and still the same problem. I have also replaced the feed drive assembly complete with motors and boards.
Lifter motor continues to rotate but sometimes stops for a second if I activate the switch.
Not getting any other jam codes or error codes.
Do I have a short somewhere?

It's certainly possible. You would have to have shorted the ground side of the lift motor to the frame ground. It's a bundle of black wires that runs from the lift motor, up the vertical feed assembly, into the main loom, then through to the engine PWB. You should be able to follow ~ 1/2 of the harness without major disassembly.

Some interesting places to make some electrical checks will be:
    engine PWB > YC22 pin A12 (cass1 lift switch LSW1), A11 (cass2 lift switch LSW2)[0/3.3vdc to frame ground]
engine PWB > YC25 pin A1 to A2 [LFT1_MOT_DT to ground: 24vdc to the lift motor]
    feed PWB > YC9 pins A12 [0/3.3vdc signal LSW1] to A11 [ground]

Technically you could have a problem with:
    LSW1: lift switch 1
    LM1: lift motor 1
    FPWB: feed PWB
    Harness

Unfortunately, it's more likely that the engine PWB is toast. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Just for kicks and giggles try re-loading/updating the firmware on the machine first.

I had the exact opposite problem with a lift motor on the same model. The lift motor wouldn't move at all. After checking electrical connections and replacing the lift motor the problem was still there. On a hunch I reloaded the firmware and the problem disappeared.

I had the same problem 2 times last year.
Both times it was tteh engine pwb.

This copier will disable the cassette that has a problem, chances are that the cassette was disabled you replaced the motor, still did not work so you flashed it. It probably would have worked if you had performed a simulation 906 , reset disable. However when the lift motors go they sometimes take out a transistor and resistor on the engine board.

One of my guys had the exact same problem with lift motot constantly rotating a few months ago on same model.. After all the replacing and troubleshooting was done.. In the end, it was an Engine pwb that fixed it..
