Slow printing of scanned PDF-documents on FS-2020DN

We have a customer with 15 FS-2020DN printers. People are complaining about very slow printing, especially scanned documents. A 10-page PDF takes a few minutes to print. Machine prints 2 pages, then waits ("processing" in display), and then prints 3 pages, and waits again, etc. When I connect my laptop all is fine. Customer is running Server 2008 with Windows 7 workstations. IT tried different drivers KX, PCL, KPDL and they checked all driver settings, but they found no reason for the slow printing. They all use the "print as image" option in the Adobe Reader X printer dialog. Does anyone know a solution?

    Thanks

    You pinned it down.

The only difference between your laptop to MFP and workstation to MFP is the network. If you were to make a bunch of the employees sick and they stayed home, then the network might speed up. Otherwise it's beyond your control.

Sometimes the specific document makes a difference. One enduser showed me a PDF that took 10 minutes to print. The PC kept displaying "Flattening .... flattening .....". It turned out that this original electronic document was 30" x 36" page size, and what did you think it would do when you print it to 8 1/2" x 11"? The second document she presented was a PowerPoint presentation with a bunch of 10MB hi-res photos embedded. Again "flattening ....". For the PowerPoint we suggested converting to PDF first (via CutePDF or similar). Much quicker print times.

On another occasion I had a customer complaining about slow print times of PDFs from a locally written application. I took a capture off the machine, and took it back to our office. Then I tried sending the print data to the same model in-house, five different ways:
    Via the Command Line
    Via IC Link
Via KM-Net Viewer > Printable Data
Via Web Interface > Printable Data
    Via LPR Jar
The command line was slowest by a factor of 3. The speeds varied as listed, slowest to fastest. Same exact print data, different method of sending it to the printer. We offered a solution of a Kyocera written Direct Print driver. Nope, customer has to do it their way, even though it's the slowest.

Unless you plan on doing some major work on the customers network, I think your done. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I also though that I couldn't do anything more there. This Direct Printer Driver, can I download that driver somewhere or is it written for a specific client?

This link describes the PDF Direct Print Driver:
The TASKalfa 305/255 can dramatically lower your TCO total cost of ownership...Kyocera's SMARTtech is affordable

        Here's the Operators Manual:
The TASKalfa 305/255 can dramatically lower your TCO total cost of ownership...Kyocera's SMARTtech is affordable

Wow! was this a pita to find on the public site! I finally had to locate it on kmaconnect, then search the reference #20779. Here's the direct print driver:
The TASKalfa 305/255 can dramatically lower your TCO total cost of ownership...Kyocera's SMARTtech is affordable

This is really easy to use. Right click the icon for the document > select Direct Print > choose Preferences or just Print. That's it. =^..^=

Just a thought - if they won't let you change procedures, perhaps you could go into the driver and hit the radio button for "print after last pages spools"? The send time across the network wouldn't change but the time from 1st page to last might be a little better. Basically, tweak their perception if you can't tweak the process.
