    C 8230 om DF710 Finisher

Any suggestions, I have replaced the whole finisher. I know its a stapler problem.
Could it be caused by different versions of Firmware on Main board m/c to the finisher?

Going to have a personal look at it in few minutes. Just hope for some suggestions thats all.

    Thanks.

"Cannot combine these functions." when staple is selected. C8230 is stored but not displayed. Staple advance spring is out of position, and staple cartridge cannot be removed. Remove staple cartridge ~15mm. Slide a flat spatula below the staple cartridge to release cartidge. Re-install staple advance spring. Clear staple jams. Leave staple cartridge out and power up. Run sim U906. Attempt staple job. When "Out of staples." is displayed re-insert staple cartridge. The stapler will cycle twice then is ready.

I ended up changing out this stapler a couple of weeks later. It's been fine since. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I removed the staple by turning the main gear to get the staple to main home position, then removed staples stuck in the staple cartridge and tried to reassemble, I noticed the push-forward staple mechanism had misaligned spring and it did not forward the staple correctly. After I took the whole unit out, and fixed the forward mechanism, I found a fairly worn out plastic just opposite the staple cartridge. I cleaned it, scraped all the plastic filings and assembled. The staple now works, but it does not have 1, Either the momentum to fully press down the staple no matter if 2 or 30 sheets OR 2, It does not align properly against the folding plate.

I have tried 3 different staple cartridges and the problem was persistent.

Thanks Blackcat always good support from you.

OK..In case you ever want to repair a stapler unit...it is possible and the main issue is alignment of the Stop Plate. What seems to happen is that the plate with marks in cross 1 or 2 and when flipped 3 or 4 has popped out from the main protrusion and it tends to hang just on alignment hooks. (Exactly other end of where the spring is hooked in to)

When assembling I can only recommend you to put those 2 little spring on hooks as the last step prior to putting the stapler motor in to the assemble unit.

Just adding a picture of the actual problem, staple feed mechanism has got damaged spring which popped out and got caught on sensor flag going around a main shaft cam. It is a MAD job to do but, I think everything is possible. Just need to find adequate spring to replace.

Wish me luck.DF 710 Finisher stapler feed mechanism.JPG

          Kudos to you!

I truly enjoy digging into such mechanical devices. There just isn't any time for this kind of fun these days.
