Today I replaced the fuser gear drive unit in a KM6030. Everthing went just fine. I've done a couple dozen. I ran a couple hundred test copies before leaving and the secretary ran some things also.. 2 hours later she called with a C0640 error code..I didn't touch the HDD area. I'm headed back there in the morning. Is there something I could have missed? Not sure why everthing was good for awhile before any c0640's Seems any code would have shown up after repair... Not 2 hours later. Any input on what to look for 1st?

Are you sure it's not C0460?
When gear 88T grinds itself to iron shavings, they falls down onto the duplex PWB. The iron shavings create unintended current paths on the PWB. I've had two machines do this. On both of them I tried to blow off with compressed air, and brush away the iron shavings from the duplex PWB. The error always clears, but returns at more frequent intervals, until you change the duplex PWB.

Thanks B Cat.. It definately had lots of shavings..Your posts have definately helped me more than once..I'll be looking for those shavings,connectors, etc.Comment

SOLVED...no loose connectiors...no shavings on pcb's... rebooted U906, got another error, formatted Hdd..all is well..Just can't figure out why initial error occured an hour later...Why ask why, right ?Comment

My codes always cleared also.
Not to rain on your parade, but ... the first re-occurrence took 3 weeks, then two weeks, then 1 week. I didn't want to change the duplex PWB, but there wasn't any other option.
If it's truly solved, Congratulations! But I'm not so sure that you're done yet. Was it really a C0640 or a C0460? =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

I'd write that off as a total coincidence.
I've been present for a HDD crash, and was totally surprised since my call was fuser related, and I wasn't anywhere near the HDD. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
