    CS-2550 with light streak.

Have a 2550 with a light streak almost 1/2 inch wide, lead edge to trail edge on copies only. Data sheets and prrints from network seem to be fine.
I have replaced drum and PM parts with no effect. I have cleaned all mirrors and optics, and have even replaced the CCD with no change. Anyone got any suggestions.

If the white lines is in the middle remove the mirror or use a flash light to check every one sometimes you need to use windex to remove the cloud that is in it....

On a letter size copy the light streak goes from left to right across the page the full 81/2 inches and is half way (51/2 inches) down the page.
If I run letter 'R' the light streak is the full 11 inches down the page and 3 inches from the left edge of the paper.

You likely have a build up of ozone, which alcohol products will not remove. Clean the mirrors with water. I did this with an issue just like yours and it worked. Now, I always use water first then use rubbing alcohol to clean all my mirrors.

These guys are correct..After you get those mirrors super clean, clean them again, plus one more time

Everyone is right about water etc on the optics.

But I am surprised you didn't see improvement (hence: on the right track) by cleaning it the first time no matter how you did it.

So my question is how did you clean the optics? It's three mirrors, each with one working side.

The theory I've heard is that the left side door's upper idle rollers melt, and disintegrate leaving fumes to fog up the mirrors.

                    Re: CS-2550 with light streak.

I don't know if it's making any difference yet, but on a couple of 1650's and 1635's I've installed foam gaskets in the left side cover to re-direct the ozone out through the vents over the fuser. I didn't really have anything suitable. The customer donated a mousepad (~3mm thick), which I cut up into 13mm wide strips, and attached it.

If you examine the cover, scanner frames, and mirrors you can see an airflow path up through the left side cover, through three openings in the left side of the scanner, and across mirror #1. =^..^=

                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

Go into simulation and turn down the fuser temp about 10 deagrees in all settings. . Sim 161?

Yes the heat from the fuser bakes the plastic and the fumes settle on the mirrors. Very common problem.

Try the enlarge and reduce functions in copy mode:

Thanks guys. I'll go back and pull the mirror.
