Is there a way to to reset the printhead? So that the leds all have the same value output etc.? I am having banding issues with magenta and cyan mostly. There is a pattern so I swapped the drum units with the printheads to see if the pattern followed and it did. I have replaced the drum units both developer units new belt as well. I have ran color tests and calibrations, turned off save toner etc. I am about to install firmware of the latest to see if that helps. The leds are clean, at least on the outside. I am going back to install firmware and to see if i can get leds any cleaner etc. I am going to do a factory reset as well. I would love to be able to clear out the data for the leds, is that possible? I have ran drum and dev modes too. I also have called Mita Support with the conclusion I have made that it is a printhead problem. Any body have similar problem and resolve? I am not buying new printheads as they are $300 each. It is apparent that all four have problems but most noticeably with Cyan and Magenta.

Re: Kyocera 5020 with banding cyan and magenta *** Solved***
Solved! Removed the printheads and looked at them closely. Found that they all had some kind of surface dullness to them in different locations along the array. By wiping with alcohol did nothing to remove the bad areas. so what I did was use some light oil and cleaned the array with it. Then dry wipe it clean. Not sure how long it will last, but for now it is a start. After doing this the shades on the test print are perfect. If it get dulls quick again or start to collect toner from the oil I will coat the surface of the array with something more permanent, yet will allow the light to shine through.
Thought I would share the news. Thanks for checking this out, hope it helps you. -
Re: Kyocera 5020 with banding cyan and magenta
I'd guess you had ozone build up on them if it had something on it that alcohol didn't clean off.....Ozone is water soluble so alcohol won't wipe it off....lil bit of water first to clean it off then alcohol to finish the job....I get this a lot on glass and mirrors on older model machines..."In a cruel and evil world, being cynical can allow you to get some entertainment out of it."
