    Km-3050 apparent CIS issue.

I am trying to find out if anyone else has had the problem we are having and have had now on about five different machines regarding the document feeder.

when you make 2-sided to 2-sided copies where it uses the CIS for the back side image, there appears to be a digital signal generated through the CIS that prints on the back side of the copies.

This is not a housekeeping issue. I had one get better for a bit after cleaning the pins in that SCSI like connector for the CIS. Now apparently it has come back. You get dash lines running the lentgh of the page and at irregular intervals of spacing. It will likely be in different areas for every given copy run.

    Ideas? Whiskey?

Never had problem, to the one you describing. Interesting it is indeed.

We use these machines very often on short rentals and they get pretty hammered in production buses and never had problems..with connectors. However..

I would try and change / swap the female connector lead that is going to mother board..a.e working from mother board all the way back to the image reader (IR).

When I was repairing fax machines the IR were usually failing in a way that it would leave a black line that could never be fixed.. so that is why I suspect the cables first. Would be interesting ..keep us posted. Sorry that I don't have better answer for you.

    Good luck.
.OK Google! ... will I need Berrocca this morning?

I'll have to agree with habik. I've replaced a couple of pigtails, but never a CIS.

Especially when the "spacer" brackets have not been installed to the back cover. The CIS connector gets slammed into the wall.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I have had a issue like this and it was also on a 3050 it took about 5 calls to figure it out tried the cis unit feeder boards cables controllers hard drives found out it would have the problem on scanned image stored in mailbox also only on the second side what it turn out to be was a poor ground connection when you open the feeder and swing open the cis unit assembly on the metal base of the feeder you will see a brass ground connection clean this good and make sure the screw holding it is tight and making contact when you swing the cis unit back in place . I hope this may help you I will never forget it.

Boy I hope so . I will have to give that a shot as I was just going to swap feeder and deal with it at the shop. The location is only about half a mile from our offices.

Thanks to all and will keep you posted.

It sure would be nice if people that post these issues at least reply back to the post and let us now if they were able to get it fixed. People take the time to reply to help them only seems fair to reply back
