Two things that you can do:

First connect your laptop to the same network cable that you were using on the MFP, allowing DHCP to connect to the customers network. Run NetScan to determine some of the other used addresses on the network. If your laptop has picked up 192.169.1.100 then the area server is typically 192.168.1.1
It doesn't have to be the server. Really any computer on the network will do.
Run a continuous ping to the server: ping 192.168.1.1 -t
and watch it for a while. I've seen cases where the laptop will lose connection for 8 or 10 pings, then reconnects. If/when this happens take a screen shot of the command prompt window. Print off two copies. Attach one to your invoice, and provide the other to the customers IT.
Clearly, if your laptop cannot maintain a network connection either, then the MFP NIC card could not be at fault. It's not even currently connected.

Second, you can set up a power quality analyzer to record any power events. Power surges or sags will knock the MFP off the network, then when power stabilizes, it will reconnect. The only way to properly prove it is with a power quality analyzer.

In the end, it's all about proof. The customer will just assume that you're making excuses for an inferior MFP. They always do. Even when you prove it, you'll find that the customer will still not take any action to solve the problem, but they'll stop calling you to complain. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Customer's IT dept love blaming the machine....I almost got into it with some IT guy at a large bank in the area last week...Drove 1 1/2 to work on an 1820 that wasn't showing up on the network....plugged in the old crossover cable to the laptop and printed and command center yadda yadda...called their IT ppl told them what I did and said it was their network...the guy was oblivious to what a crossover cable was and still insisted my machine....I had left the site by then but told them I'd drive back and carry the machine across the room to a known good port and plug it in to prove it if they wanted...being as that is exactly what I did the previous time about 4 months ago on this same machine...they said they'd send someone out to look at it....tho I was still at a bit of a loss when their network guy was asking me why I used a cross over cable....maybe I should be a network guy at the bank making the big bucks....

Probably the reason why they asked that you used a cross over cable is that you don't need to use them anymore.

Switches, PC's and laptops are smart enough to realise that it is a direct link to another device and crosses the port internally.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

Not sure about Kyocera, but Canon and Sharp have a problem with MFP dropping off the network when it is GigaBit. Two solutions that have worked for me is turning off SNMP, or placing a hub between the MFP and GB switch. As I understand it, the MFP does not respond to net calls when it is in sleep mode, so network drops the connection - and MFP only "makes" the connection when it first comes on, and stays on until sleep mode.

          Your milage may vary.

Are they using a print server or printing directly to the device? I had an issue recently where a device connected to a print server would drop off the network intermittently. The problem turned out to be related to SNMP. SNMP v.1 and 2 were disabled, but v.3 was enabled. Apparently the KX driver uses SNMP in some of it's operations (I found this out when I tried automatically loading the optional components from driver properties page and got an SNMP error message).
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

I had an issue with a FS5300 Series printer with the same issue, Replaced All boards on it, still had issues dropping the call, New Firmware and all, There is a post here about putting in a 10Mbit hub/switch and also changing the Network speed to 10MBits, this helps some how, in my case it was the Switch the Printer was connected to. After the Customer changed the Cable and Switch, All worked well
