    TA 5500i CF339

TA 5500i throwing this error code CF339. Can find no reference to it whatsoever. Has FW 3.01 on it and I'm heading over to update that to 3.04 hoping that will solve the issue. I've seen it throw the code when someone tries to scan to a usb drive, you can make 1 copy and it will spit out the copy while throwing the code, and have been told it will throw the code when you send a print job to it. Anyone else seen this code any help would be appreciated.

Edit- Also forgot to mention that the call was originally all the Job Accounting ID's have just vanished. Didn't lose any other settings or the address book...just the Accounting ID's.

The closest that I can come up with is CF337 whose description is: Device Error (scan control):
and no hints as to what action to take.

Based on what you've told me I'd start out with re-seating all the connectors in the scanner, and scanner PWBs. Next, I'd replace the scanner controller, and reload the firmware. This kind of makes sense with your symptoms. Since it affects both copying and scanning to USB, you've narrowed the problem to the image processing in the scanner. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I got on the phone with tech support. They lead me to QA C031-2LC-0057. You would probably be very interested in this one Blackcat as it lists all the Fxxx codes for the new TA line. So after getting this bit of info and what had happened with the Job Accounting ID's vanishing it seems something corrupted that data on the HDD and just threw everything out of whack. Backed up their address book and formatted the HDD and problem solved. They had to enter in the Job Account ID's again which wasn't too bad as it was only 15 people. I made sure to make a back up of all that stuff just in case this were to happen again.

How about that! Only 4 years after my list hit the web. It's got to be embarrassing for Kyocera to find their techs subverting the company-wide secrecy about the "unimportant engineering codes". I've seen this QA, and it made me laugh. They can try to keep us in the dark, but we'll find a way around. "Since the barn door is already open and the horses all gone, maybe now we can admit what the engineering codes mean."

        Congratulations on the fix. =^..^=

What irritates me about Kyo tech support is before I called I looked in the manual, knowledge base, and here for that code and came up with nothing. I call them and he acts like I should just know about such and such QA like it's obvious. If it was so obvious why didn't it appear when I did a search in the QA database for that code. They really need to make their info a bit easier to find and browse thru.

I had one that did same thing, lost address book etc. programmed back in and made a u917 copy. Few weeks later got c640, didn't have right HDD with me...takes SATA 160GB laptop HDD so I formatted and it come to life...lucky we had U917 and saved address book to reload, a month later HDD crashed and we were prepared...my advise...do a U917 and replace the HDD ASAP!
