    KM-3040 Cannot reset Maintenance Count

We have a KM-3040 that is displaying "Time for Maintenance". The account is local, so I attempted to increase the maintenance interval while I waited for the maintenance kit to arrive. U250 and U251 offer no options for clearing or changing counts. When entering either one of these modes, no buttons work (with the obvious exception of the clear key which takes you back). The number keys don't work, the reset key doesn't work, etc.) The only thing displayed is the words "Count" and the actual number (no arrows, clear key).

So, I thought that it would reset itself when the kit was installed - no dice. All individual counters have reset themselves (drum, fuser, dev), but the maintenence count did not reset and is not resetable.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. And, yes, I have the manual and have followed its instructions.

Re: KM-3040 Cannot reset Maintenance Count

For U250 you cannot reset the maintenance cycle values with the maintenance indication displayed. Reset U251 before attempting to change U250. For U251 Reset zero's out the count, Start locks it in. You cannot set numeric values excepting zero. Why fuss about this? They can use the machine with no limitations. Just one little line of type on the screen. Let it display. Who cares? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks, but 1) Reset does nothing when in u251. Actually, no buttons work except the Stop/Clear, which only takes us back. 2) the customer is complaining about it - this has been an issue for several months and I guess they are just tired of seeing the message. Plus, it makes us look like we aren't doing our job - even as much as we explain that maintenance HAS actually been performed.

If the Reset button does not function, you've got a problem with the panel or the panel firmware. Reset does reset the maintenance count on functioning panels. =^..^=
