Just checking to see what everyone thinks about the Voyager Series of color machines. Have you been experiencing problems or any issues that you have come across? Now that they have been out for a while, what's the word on the street?

I have about six in the field for over a month so far with no problems at all. So far, So good! All the units were sold into a business color environment so that should help keep the whining to a minimum. I'll keep you posted.

Just a follow up on my first post. I just attended a Technical Summit on Monday with the big wigs from Kyocera along with the Engineers that designed the Voyager and 5030. They are finally comming out with the Color Optimizer add on for the driver on Wednesday. If you haven't heard about that, make sure you check it out on KMA Connect. The other problem we have experienced is color reproduction in copy mode. Make sure you order the scanner calibration chart and calibrate every machine you put out there. The cost is about $100.00 each chart. The next biggest problem is J-40 and J-62. Machine jams when you want to send anything to the finisher. The problem is that the stands are not the correct height. If you force the finisher to latch to the machine it puts too much stress on the exit side of the machine causing jams. The solenoid in the job separator fires to send the paper to the finisher but immediately disengages causing paper to go to inner tray causing jamming. You can test this in Sim 33. The best thing to do to eliminate this problem is sell the machine with a paper deck instead of the stand. You will never have this jamming problem. When I hear back from engineers I will let you guys know...

We have over 25 in the field and they are fully loaded..

The day that Kyocera doesn't fuck up the holes in a stand or finisher mounting bracket will be the true sign of the apocalypse. I'm not complaining but it happens on every new machine release.

These machines are great. The only issues that I am aware of is that the Drum drive mtrs can sieze up and throw u up an error code. Also plse note when taking out the feed assembly situated at the rear of the machine, make sure the torque limiter is in its proper position other wise the machine will start whhhiiirrrring..other wise fantastic..not bad for a non pantone machine...

i had some problems with the spacer collars on the mag roller in the dv units cracking and causing image problems..(banding or streaks of color from whichever unit has the cracks)..was told kyocera changed suppliers of the collars and all is well now..probably still got a whole bunch in warehouse ready to be shipped though.. also, if ya pull the fuser unit out, look on the back side of it toward the rear of copier. ya may notice some brownish or light tan colored deposit there...if so,there are 2 gears on the copier exit assembly that are deteriorating and will eventually break down and cause drive loss and jam...even with these 2 issues, i still like the boxes...

The series is great...I have around 40 of this series in the field...the only problems I've seen were in the transport gears above the fuser and with the gears on the job separator. They baked in the heat from the fuser, dried, and cracked. Several gears had to be replaced. It's best to set aside part repair kits for this problem. Other than that, I had a lvps drop out a 5v supply to a fns and had to warranty it. The systems have run great overall with nothing but regular maintenance.

Note: One more thing, the touch screen on this model has a soft gap on all sides and the touch sensors go past the cover edges....if you have a system lock up (ie the touch panel won't select anything), save yourself some time and or money....run something (a piece of mylar or etc) under the edge cover of the touch panel around all sides. If debris pops out, you just might be up and running again. Seen it 3 times.
