      Yes, always. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Hi blackest....thanks for your reply. I just finished replacing the HD, but didn't do firmware. Currently has very 2GR_2000.022.011 2008.08.06. seems to be working except the scan to folder needs to be reconnected. What kinds of problems should I expect?? I've also been told to never do an upgrade because the amount of troubles it can cause after an upgrade so it scares me to try it, and besides don't have access to the firmware.

Kyocera firmware is considerably more stable than many other brands. I use compact flash cards to upgrade models of this age: Power Off machine > insert blank CF card > power On > when prompted format CF card (if not prompted, browse the Print Menu to find Memory > CF card > Format > etc. > power Off > remove CF card. > Download firmware to your laptop or PC > extract firmware files to the root of the CF card (not in any of the folders). > re-insert CF card into the MFP > power On. > It will take ~25 minutes to flash. Do not power Off until you see the "Completed" screen. This is the time when the machine is the most vulnerable. Don't wander off. Some smart ass will see a strange screen and reach for the power switch to re-boot it. Then you'll have a doorstop. > take the time to read the "Completed" screen. "Completed" and "No Change" is just fine. "Failed" is not so good. Remember which piece of firmware failed. > power Off > remove CF card > power On. You're done. =^..^=
