afternoon ladies and gentleman, have a doc feeder giving a blured image same place every copy ONLY on the doc feed. Had it 5 months ago and fixed it buy replacing the feed and sep rollers but its back in again so im replacing the complete feed unit. its being caused by a slight drag when feeding through. Anybody else have this problem? i cant give you a copy sample but print out a status page feed it back through the doc feeder and the blur occurs half inch in, from rear to front edge of the copy and NOT lead or trailing edge. I can only think that there is a dirty shaft, sticky gear causing it to judder for a split second in the drive. Not really a high volume machine and its not linked up to the network so scanning used for copying only total meter output is 386k.

Have you looked at the DP height? Here are a few measures you can try:
1) You may try adjusting the DP up higher, perhaps need to replace hinges?
2) Check for a rough areas on the index ramp,
3) Pledge the slit glass,
4) adding self-adhesive shims at the front & rear of the slit glass to increase the spacing between the white plate and slit glass.
Here's my reasoning: The main reason we would try these measures was that the slit glass would get dirty frequently (more frequently than usual). The secondary reason was blurs crossfeed only when using DP. If there isn't enough room for paper to pass, it will stall/delay ... what do you think?

i like the reasoning for the stall and it is in the same place every copy +- 3mm. Ive ordered the feed unit complete with the shaft. The last time i was there i fixed it by cleaning the feed, belt and sep which is why im now ordering the 303JX94080 pf ssembly. slit glass doesnt get dirty either considering its a school with multiple users. I'll report back on what happens and inspection when its fitted next week though.

did you check the white plate? that velcros onto the bottom of ze DP.
had a 250ci blur only with DP same lead edge section.
turned out somebody took it off, put it back without aligning with the glass. Since the plate is sitting on the white frame of the platen glass, its not even, and the paper may hit it.
just a thought.Idling colour developers are not healthy developers.Comment

update on this.
went out on thursday and fitted the feed unit - still the same problems. checked the doc feeder, added some folded paper under the doc unit but that made it worse and nothing seemed to be missing. Removed the doc glass and slit glass, reseated and the problem dissapeared? still not sure but blackcat and jmaister are on to something but i cant put my finger on it yet.
i have a copy of the faulty image so when i have a chance i'll upload it.Comment

I don't know if someone already mentioned it, but what about the springs that push down on the little white strip that lines up with the slit glass? If one of these were missing or not mounted properly DP only image problems could occur.But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.
