    250ci wont recognise new toner

    Hi guys,

having a problem with a 250ci. Customer replaced empty yellow toner but the machine wouldnt recognise the new one.
We sent out another toner thinking the previous one might be faulty, but same thing happened.
Havent been out to the machine yet so just wondering has anybody seen similar issues?
There is only 23k colour prints on machine.

Can the machine work away in b/w without the color toner in?

    Thanks in advance.

Re: 250ci wont recognise new toner

We have a 250ci and a 400ci that is doing that. We have replaced the developer, the front pwb and the engine pwb and we are still getting that problem. Our tech rep is coming out to help trouble shoot. Will keep you posted.

Has this a few times on this range, replace dev unit and make sure firmware is up to the latest version.

I had one that i resolved by replacing the rfid board. It is behind the toner containers.

Our tech rep said to replace the cleaning motor, as it was within the range to change out in tech bulletin 6. We did look at the rfid board, but he did not say to change it. I might order one anyway.

              Give this a try.
Power off machine, remove yellow toner, power up machine and verify message indicates add toner and see if this resolves.

Next option is to reload firmware as I have seen many times this resolves a lot of problems before starting to change components.

Please advise if this helps solve your problem.

Another thing to check, take the toner sensor off and check if the cleaning pad on the stirring roller has come off.this can cause false toner conditions

Last Thursday I replaced the toner cleaning motor in the 400ci, today, hopefully, I'm going to replace the rfid board in the 250ci. Then see what happens.

I've had issues like this one resolved by trimming the toner coupler gear on the back of the new toner cartridge. Basically, you want to trim the coupler (the part that gets driven by the motor). Originally the coupler looks like this... ] [. Trim it so it looks like this... ||. For some reason, the coupler tends to mesh with the motor better when it's trimmed like this.
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.
