Re: Kyocera 820i C3900 Error
I would do a full firmware update before ordering anything, just in case. But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: Kyocera 820i C3900 Error
Clean optics with pure ISO Propyl alcohol, also check if a cable from optics is not pinched anywhere. Check if the CCD isn't dusty.
Make sure you have clean Glass Platen WHITE reference strip spotless..
Check if the mirror clips are positioned correctly and mirrors have good angles.
OPT 2
Remove all connectors from main pwb and put them back..
Not sure if anything else is left except for Main PWB or PWR Supply.
Good Luck.Comment

Re: Kyocera 820i C3900 Error
hi guys,
right a couple of weeks ago when the code was constant i reseated the connectors and the ram on the machine. The code went away. until now 2 weeks later its back again only coming up intermitently .
does anyone know where the backup ram is on the machine? is it a stick of ram or is it built into the board?Comment

Re: Kyocera 820i C3900 Error
I was speaking to a tech this morning regarding this same problem. Took several months to resolve and he had to get an eeprom for the scanner from Kyocera, Japan to correct this problem. Sounds crazy, but that is what corrected his 3900 error in his 820i. The only other thing that I would try is to go into service mode and perform an 04 to re-write the eeproms. I do not know if this re-writes the scanner information though.Comment

Re: Kyocera 820i C3900 Error
Greetings all, I know this is an old thread, but I recently had a 3550ci throwing the C3900 code. No standard resets or FW upgrades would cure it, but replacing the ISC board did the trick for me. Just putting it out there in hopes it helps someone else.......
