[Misc] LCF on the 5050/4050/3050 series -shows A4 paper instead of letter

I have had 2 machines now that have the same LCF base (PF-670B) problem, they work fine then after some time(months) the jobs will fail showing the incorrect paper size. When you check the machine it says the LCF has A4, not Letter. You can force the job thru by telling the machine to use the Tray3(LCF) choice and it will finish.
Called Tech-support and after the standard gamut of; Reset machine to defaults, format the hard drive, update the firmware, do a U252 (set destination - US/Inch), it will work for a few months more, then same thing happens again.

I've narrowed it down to running a U252 or a simple reboot will get it to come around and start recognizing the correct size.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?, or even been able to solve it?

One of the problematic machines just this week shows (error) on the LCF and wont let us use it at all, so we're replacing that one.

There's a Sim just for lcf size, not 252, it can reset during a power spike or something

I am aware of the separate LCT size setting, but have never heard of it changing by itself. The same goes with the machine destination. The only way I know of changing the destination, is to purposely change it. Is someone sabotaging you?

Have you considered setting up the power quality analyzer? That's the only thing all these machines have in common. Power. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks for the replies, I dont have a power quality analyzer, and dont think i'll be purchasing one anytime soon. Both machines are on Panamax surge protectors, but I understand that does not fix low quality power service.

The one machine the network administrator/IT guy does have a tendency to dink with things, but I doubt he'd be sabotaging the machine.
The other machine is in an office that they are so technologically inept I'd be very impressed if they could do anything more than make a single sided copy on the machine, so I highly doubt sabotage is the answer there.

        I'll keep digging at this.

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE STUPIDITY ( or ignorance either ) .....
Are they sending a print job that has been set to require A4 print ?

I am not that familiar with these models ... but ...can you LOCK the keyboard to keep unwanted fingers out of the Paper Handling part of the menu ?

God grant me the serenity to accept stupid people , the courage to not waste my time and energy on them , and the wisdom to know that I cannot fix STUPID .

            U208:
Setting the paper size for the paper feederDescription
Sets the size of paper used in optional 3000-sheet paper feeder.
            Purpose
To change the setting when the size of paper used in the paper feeder is changed.
            Setting
            1. Press the start key.2. Select the paper size (A4, B5 or Letter).Initial setting: Letter (Inch specifications)/A4 (Metric specifications)3. Press the start key. The setting is set.
            4. Turn the main power switch off and on.
Don't know for sure, but I have always had to set the LCF size separately from the copier being set to inch. If I get a main board that is set to metric after setting the machine to inch, I will still have to set the LCF to inch by using sim U208.
