[Misc] Kyocera Taskalfa 820 with PF-660 Large Capacity Side Feeder Double Feed Problem

When I run letter sized sheets from the side feeder, I will get about 6-12 pairs of sheets in a row (out of a few thousand) that double feed from the side feeder, get printed and duplexed all while staying together, and they exit the delivery as one sheet.

After printing and post processing, we find these sheets that ran through together where each one only got printed on one side.

Our technician is baffled and nobody seems to know how to fix it or how it's even possible. Hope someone can help?

check for damaged paper, ie. edges of the ream scratched and pinched together. and try a brand new ream in case it is somehow damp paper which was in the m/c already and new stuff put on top.

I agree with madas. There are only two possible causes:
      1) Paper: try riffling, or switching brands. When the paper manufacturers cutters get dull, the cutting process can weld the edges together. I've seen whole reams that stayed together like the ream was glue-bound.
      2) Rollers: These feed rollers are supposed to last 500K, but a more realistic expectation is 300K pages. Be sure to include pickup, feed, and separation rollers. I've assembled a one-way bearing kit for replacement at 1M pages.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Agree with Blackcat. Worked on one last week with similar symptoms. Not only were the feed tires and sep pully worn, the torque limiter had a large crack in it, allowing multifeeding. PS Agree about the paper too.
