    [Misc] KM-C4035E Harddrve

I wanted to ask if anyone has used another generic hard drive as a replacement for the OEM unit?
In my case I am trying an identical harddrive at a lot less cost without any success.
I am considering the main board might be the problem.
The existing drive had issues in the past and formatting resolved but not this time.
Kyocera support indicated that this is a proprietary harddrive but I don't think that this is correct.
I am not aware of any special procedures when installing other than a format through the M-mode.
I expect I will try the drive in a known good operating machine.

    Thanks for any input.

    I've subbed the exact same HDD: Toshiba HDD2D10 40GB 5400RPM 2.5in HDD
then formatted it from the service mode. It works fine. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Thanks Blackcat
I quite agree, it appears that the issue may very well be something other than the drive.
I will update with the resolution at a later date.
      I appreciate the response.

You should be able to replace either HDD with a Compatable Drive. The main HDD is a 3.5 inch IDE and their can be an optional drive for the control box(Printer section. If the machine has disabled the main disk drive you may have to perform a U906 to reenable this drive.

I forgot the optional drive is a 2.5 inch ide drive.

I thought they were proprietary and only the toshiba will work....and I don't think toshiba doesn't makes them anymore. Many of the hard drives can be reformatted on a PC and reused, some can't be saved.

                Problem resolved.
Both harddrive and main pcb had to be changed.
                Hope this may helpm others.
                Thanks
