PDF file not spooling on Mac

So here is a call I've been dealing with that is specific to ONE pdf and the Mac OS

The customer has a Kyocera 3050ci and has mixed environment of Mac and Windows OSes. Some have Windows XP, some have 10.6, some have Windows Vista, some have 10.8.

Printing this particular pdf from every version of Windows spools in seconds and prints out no problem.

In EVERY Mac case this PDF never completely spools - it stops at about 25% (printing 1 page out of 4 anywhere between 5-20 minutes). I am able to reproduce this in my shop using my own Mac computer, network, and copier.

The Macs have no problems printing other large pdfs (50 pages of a service manual spooled in seconds).

This document prints out just fine using a Canon or Samsung mfp.

Trying different settings in the driver are no help (was it a QA or a Bulletin about color profiles selection on a Mac? Didn't help). Kyocera JUST released new Mac drivers for 10.8 a few weeks ago that were no help. I have used generic drivers and open source drivers no help. Tried different applications other than Preview and Adobe no help.

The source of the pdf is from an external company which emails my customer the file, so I have no knowledge or say in how the pdf itself is made.

This hasn't been too much of a priority for me because the customer is able to save the pdf as a TIFF and print it that way - or use a Windows box - however this is more of a need to fix the customer's impression of the machine (they already have a bad taste in their mouth and may be buying another machine from us, so I want to smooth things out as much as possible).

I am fairly certain that the issue lies within this particular pdf's interaction between the KPDL driver and the Mac OS. But what is so special about this file (2.24mb)? Why only Kyocera? Why only Mac?

Gotta be in the way the file way created.

Try opening it up in Acrobat, then redistilling it, NOT using the built in Mac PDF writer, but Acrobat's.

I'm wondering if it doesn't have something to do with all the flowchart markings. On my screen it takes 3 seconds to build the whole document for viewing. That's unusually long. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Is Adobe's Distiller for MAC a free download? Or is it packaged with Adobe Acrobat pro?

It should be part of Acrobat Pro.

Definitely not a free download, although you can get a free trial to test with if you don't have it.

Firmware updated to latest, of course.

More info I have revealed by talking to the customer:

The pdf was created on a Windows computer with the application Microsoft Project. It is then saved as a pdf and distributed via email. Inspecting the pdf you can see it says it was created by "Bluebeam Stapler"

Anyone know anything about MS Project? Anyone have a copy of it they could test for me? Just create a pdf using it and post it here.

this is probably not what you want to hear but here goes.

we put a new machine into a customers office, smart series colour it was in the office for one day then they rang us up .the colour was perfect but pdf files were taking ages to print.
i went back and reloaded drivers and tried again (this office runs on mac).still slow so i got an IT guy to see if he could do anything ,he spent a couple of hours trying and it was a little bit quicker but still not ok.we contacted kyocera about the problem and sent them the pdf file.they found no problem printing from windows but also had the slow print from mac.they sent out their rep .he also could do nothing .the long and short of it is after a month we had to refund the customer and he went to another brand.i hope you get yours sorted but dont be dissapointed if you cant.
