    TaskAlfa520i - creasing paper

    hi,

i have a problem with a TA520i creasing paper in the fusing unit, causing it to jam. 500K on the machine, new fusing unit installed. seems to be happening mostly on double-sided.
All cassette pick-up rollers are new, guides correctly seated, duplex unit clutch changed but still problem persists. Its not all the time, couple of times every 100 copies approx. ive ruled out any issues with the paper and firmware is up to date.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated?

Do you have creasing issue also with old fuser?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Hi, I would suggest if you have another fuser to try that 1st, quick and simple elimination of the fuser.
if it is not the fuser then is it tray specific or all trays? you say mostly on duplex, is the customers m/c set up to duplex every thing even single sided? ours is. I see you have ruled out the paper but have you tried a new ream of paper that you have opened and put in yourself to eliminate any possible misaligned paper mid stack?
just a couple of thoughts on the problem and being random is a pain.
      please post the fix

How about media settings? If you feed ledger 20# bond on heavy paper settings it will wrinkle, regardless of the paper condition. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Sometimes creasing can be caused by the LCT trays not level or paper being bent when installed in tray. Try a different paper tray as a test.

Problem was originally happening with the old fuser, then it was replaced, it happens from all trays, and I have loaded fresh reams of paper myself. Its set up for single-sided, happens mostly on duplex but does occur on single- sided also.

Look on the duplexer unit just above the transfer roller there is an adhesive sheet there. Called a conveying sheet and cost about 4.50. I have seen 2 machines so far where about 2/3 of the way along towards the back it starts to bubble up and snag paper. This might be your issue...might not. Wouldn't hurt to check it tho.

I've seen this before but it is fine on this machine also.

                  Re: TaskAlfa520i - creasing paper

what's the meter count on the machine?

Given its not the fuser. (not ruling it out)

creasing can be due to uneven spring pressure(exerting on the white rollers). Or or the springs on the hooks to latch the panel has become weak.

swap out duplex assembly? Where is the paper source? if its cassette 2, i'd check the side panel as well

is the image skewed? is there any nic mark on the edge of the paper?
