    Prescribe commands (Paper source X9)

    Hello,

A client has issues with automatic paper swapping from drawer 1 to drawer 2 etc.
I never had problems with changing the X9 paper source settings to 1 with prescribe commands.
How can I avoid automatic paper cassette swapping? | FAQ | Techn. Support | ServiceWorld | KYOCERA Document Solutions - laserprinter, printer, copier, multifunctionals

On the KM-2560 i can't change this setting to "1".
I send the command (Echo !R! FRPO X9,1; STAT1; EXIT to the machine and see the memory led lightening up for a few seconds but without result!
I changed another setting (standby time) and this works perfect!
With a FS-9530 on the same network i changed this setting without any problem!
    Any ideas why this happens???

Re: Prescribe commands (Paper source X9)

    I've always used the R1 PreScribe command for this purpose, but usually the other way to enable tray switching for printing, for example: !R! FRPO R1,99;EXIT;

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Hello Blackcat,

The R1 option is not available on this status page list...

By the way...why you should change R1 paramater if "0" is standard?
I want to disable automatic swapping from drawer.

      Auto cassette All models
      R Parameter
0: Cassette not switched when empty (Factory setting)
1: Printer’s cassette and upper cassette
2: Between upper and lower cassettes
3: Printer’s cassette and lower cassette
      4: Between all cassettes
99:Switched according to page size command in data

Here is the statuspage of this machine without the R1 option available!

Like all Kyocera, there are no guarantees that any one PreScribe command will work on any one machine. They publish a general list of all the commands ever created, but don't specify which will work on which models.

And yes, I am usually looking to enable auto tray switching based on size = 99. Disable would be the default = 0.

Just keep in mind that because that function is not listed on the report does not mean that it is not available or not usable.

Could you be talking about fax? That's a whole other story. =^..^=

I tried this X9 command on a KM2560 but by another company. The same issue....
Parameter R1 -99 is not interesting for most of my clients.
90% of the first two drawers are A4 size.
Anyway i'll try this R1-99 command and let you know if thisone works or not.
          What you mean with fax?

All Stratos, FalconIII, and maybe others will continue to print all fax receptions regardless if the appropriate matching paper size is available or not. There is a table in the manual that shows which paper it will choose based on what sizes are available. Essentially though, every fax will print until not one single page remains in the machine. It will not give an Add Paper message when the matching paper size is out.

The workaround is to program fax receptions to print onto a specific media type, then program a tray with that media type. Then when that tray goes empty you'll get a paper empty indication. Keep in mind that it appears in very small type, and often the paper gets filled only by accident when someone is filling other trays. =^..^=
