    CS-3500i background stripes.

We have a 3500i with 16,000 copies on it. It's only been out for about 7-8 weeks, and about 3 weeks ago, they called with a background problem. They were grey stripes anywhere from 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches wide at the top and bottom of copies. In other words, it's running 11-inch lead, and the stripes are on the 8-1/2 inch edges in the direction of feed. I found toner crusted on the ends of the mag roller in the developer. I replaced the unit and a few weeks later, the new unit has done the same thing. The machine sits in a basement where it gets cold at night, although not below 10C., which is the limit according to spec. Any suggestions? Thank you for reading.

If it's OEM toner, then the low temperature is the next most likely. You can extend out the Energy Saver mode that will help a little. but it's really condensation on the drum that is your enemy. If I had another 3500, I'd swap it for a few week to see if the problem stays in the environment, and not in your office.

Maybe your customer will have to stop being so cheap, and provide some additional heat overnight. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        Hi,

Low temperature and low humidity is causing this problem.

        Check U140

value ''Mag DC" should be 140-150.
When its about 175,you have a problem with low temperature ,humidity.

The next firmware will solve this problem (current firmware 04.00.0030)

Do you have any more information on this, I have seen this a few times, changing the mag bias does not seem to make a difference, at least for me

          Thanks

Had this happen on one of our units. Did u119. And ran through u952 setup and it has been fine.
