    [Misc] KM2560 - cassette

Have a problem with cassette 1 on a km2560, will be feeding paper as normal, and during a job it just stops and says add paper in cassette even though it has plenty of paper. Switched cassettes and pick-up assemblies and problem stays with cassette one. Connectors all fine and seated correctly and has latest firmware. If you open and close cassette when it stops it will carry on but says add paper again randomly, could be after 3 - 100 copies. Doesn't follow a pattern. Any help appreciated.

Check the drawer connector for a pice of paper in the connector.

Also check the lift drive coupler. The spring loaded coupler will bind on the plastic splined shaft, or paper can get pressed into the coupler.

It's much more common to have the lift motor short out, taking the motor driver circuit on the main PWB with. In this situation it won't reset though. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Swap the lifter motors from another cassette and then actuate the white switch to the rear of the machine to see if the coupler turns. If it works then fine but if it does not solve the problem and then it will mostly likely be the engine board.
