TASKalfa 6500i/8000i Fuser Belt Running Off

We have quite a few of these out in the field and now that they are coming up to the point where they need fuser units. Machines have been working fine no problems with the fusers at all but then all of a sudden upon replacing the fuser within 3 days - 6 weeks the fuser will self destruct and when you look at the fuser it is almost as if the fuser belt has completely slipped off the drive tearing itself to pieces in the process.

Some of the machines replacing the fuser no problems but maybe 3/10 are causing major head aches with some tearing up to three fuser units before we work out whats going on. We have even gone to the point of ordering a jig to make sure the fuser is aligned properly and even then it still takes out another fuser unit within a few weeks.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Cheers.

As long as you're adjusting them with the jig & installing version 6 or 7 of the fuser, that's all there is.
    Hope that helps !

I have even a couple of the fuser version 6 go bad with belt damage (not totally ripped apart as with previous versions but about 1 inch wide damage on side of belt)
Have had no problems with Version 7 fusers, yet.. If ya can get the jig & the holder for it to aid in installation, that is best way..

      Jig Holder Set = Part# 855D500080 (cost = 5.00 from Kyocera)
      Fuser Unit Ass'y = Part # 302LF93057 (cost = 226.68 from Kyocera)

Oh yeah, and supposedly there were micro imperfections in the belts, and they've changed manufacturers for the belts. All of them being shipped now have reportedly been inspected.
        Hope that helps !

According to the Kyocera gods allegedly version # 7 ( 6 still has problems) in conjunction with the jig has resolved all issues . Just don't hold your breath....
P.S. The 300K P.M. Kit may not have version 7..so be careful.

I seen that bulletin. Are they now giving out that jig for 5 dollars. It used to be 200.

When I saw the original price (200+) that pissed me off to no end..Talk about adding insult to injury...It's not enough that they screed up and we are loosing thousands of dollars, they want us to pay for a tool that may correct their F*&K up. What are they thinking?????

Any easy way to check what version of the fuser ive got? slightly scared as we been mainly ordering the kits...

What you guys have said does make sense though as why does a machine work fine do 300k then upon replacing fuser go crazy made no sense to us. I got customers telling us we not doing our jobs properly then I got our supplier trying to dodge the bullet.

Just to add on they always tear/slip over on the drive side of the fuser.

Look at the bulletin. It tells you where in the p.n. to look for the no. 7

                      Greetings All!

                      My first post here!

I am the "newbie" at a local copy servicing business. Our techs have been working on the Copystar line of machines for quite a while and we have just recently picked up the Kyocera line of products.

I haven't personally worked on the machines that have the notorious fuser belt "run-offs", but I have seen the resultant destruction of the belt.

Some things that came to mind when I saw the damage were the following points:

-The fuser uses an induction heating system...It seems like if the belt material construction OR the heating of the induction circuit was UNEVEN, it could cause the belt to warp which would then cause the belt to ride unevenly on the roller(s) and eventually ride off the roller causing the destruction. It would be cool to have a thermal imaging device to see how evenly/unevenly the surface area heats up and cools down!

-You would think the designers of this particular belt system would take a note from the designers of belt sanders--variable speed and constant speed, which use self centering belt mechanisms and design some kind of servo mechanism with belt edge detection, or a simple (if that is possible) mechanical design.

And yes, we have seen belts self-destruct that have used the install jig for proper positioning! The price for the jig is ridiculous at $200 plus clams!

Cheers and any more thoughts would be interesting on this matter!

Yes I've have had this alot ..... In my opinion the jig is hit and miss on both black and white and colour products.

                        Last one lasted 13k (6500i)!
one of my machines 6500i has had wait for it 4 units all warrantied , lets hope the new version sorts it .
To add to this not only belt run off but also had noisy units ??

Today I've carried out mk kit c on 4550ci although only done the filters as the fuser is fine at 345k ?
I've stored the new fuser onsite for when it needs it.

I'm looking to see what i can get out of the original unit that came with the machine NOT jigged by myself etc etc... we'll see on this ...
