[Error Code] Error code 4200 Copystar 4050

We have a copystar 4050 with a 4200 code that just won't go away. We replaced with new: drum unit, charge, laser unit, wire harness to laser, engine pwb, and tried the ferrile magnet idea and current firmware. No good results. We also tried removing items from the copier to see if we could pass the problem, such as the high voltage board and transfer roller, still pops up with a code. The laser unit is winding up the motor, so voltage is being supplied, apparently still no beam detect. We did not try the main board- because of expense and high doubts. Does anyone have a solid answer that will point to the exact answer? Would anyone have a board that we could try/purchase? Don

Replace the switches on the left door.

I agree. Replace the Interlock Switches.

Yes, we replaced the left door interlock switches , but still no good.

Ok....check the contacts on the transfer roller assy. They contact into sockets in the machine and these can give you issues like that also.

we actually tried running it with the left side door open, and then tried running it with no high voltage board installed at different times ofcourse. If there's no high voltage, it shouldn't short out.

How about the front door switches?

Jumped them, and swapped out the mini switch.

The power supply does put out the 24 volts at pin5 at yc8 and we have also seen the print head spinning.

I don't have any unique suggestions, but will try to explain the previous suggestions. It's relatively common on Kyocera machines to display C4200 or other laser codes when any sort of high voltage arcing occurs. It's typical to run the laser's 24vdc through the door interlock switches.

I'd have to say that the only thing left is the main PWB. It's too bad you don't have a PWB to test swap in. =^..^=

OK, After all this time, we found a solution. We finally got a used main board from a helping dealer, and it initially did not work, so we decided to exchange the new laser unit from Copystar/Kyroceramita with the old one again, and it decided to work!!! So after all this grief, It turns out it was the Main Board. The new laser unit that was shipped to us was defective. Thanx to all who gave us help- much appreciated!!!
