    KM 6030 intermittently dropping toner

A KM 6030 is intermittently dropping toner and making lines on the center of the page. The lines are in the PF direction and kind of faded ...
Did a Maintenance kit (replaced drum, dev, coronas) and inspected/cleaned the auger system in the back but the problem is still there. The counter is close to 500K and the drum is rated for 3 million.

    Any ideas, please?

    Thanks in advance!

If I were to make an educated guess, I would say that you've probably got toner build up on the heat roller. The second or third version of the firmware added adjustments to the web advance.

Look at the heat roller. If yes, proceed like this:

So first, make sure that you have current firmware.
Second, replace heat roller, cleaning roller, and web.
Third, go to simulation U194. New default is Turns: 3, Interval: 66. If turns is already at 3, decrease interval by ~8 points.

In situations where the customer runs heavy fill or legal/LTR-R only, I've set interval as low as 33.
      =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

The drum separator claws can cause very fine scratches on the drum. The claw mount should be shifted at replacement or inspection. Another cause of toner dropping is paper dust build up in the drum cleaning unit. Just remove with vacume.

            Hi blackcat

Yes, it was the Heat roller, although I did the fuser kit not long time ago and the fuser counter was 200K. I did the firmware upgrade as well, just for the heck of it but was not aware of what it fixes it as could not find a readme file or something ...

I wish you had posted this before I did the service call yesterday. Somehow I did not get a notification for your post at all .... I got a notification for the next post and that's how I read yours.

            Thanks for your help!

Initially, right after the firmware change, the recommended settings were Turns: 3, Interval: 90, to make the web still last the full 500K. It didn't take most of us long to discover that that was not enough of a change. Later on, the instruction page in the PM kits was giving the recommendation Turns: 3, Interval: 66. Each time I had to change a heat roller early, I'd drop the interval by about 8 points. Most of this series are currently set between 45 and 60 (interval).

Note: At Interval: 45 you'll change the web every 250K prints. It sure beats changing heat rollers though. =^..^=
